Canada in danger!

Hello Fellow Collectors...

Today I bring you news from Canada... This year 2008 Canada issued another souvenir sheet depicting endangered species.

This is a very important theme since year after year the number of species that are close to soon be extinct rapidly increase.

As a collect of WWF stamps I have a special taste for endangered species stamps... so if any of my blog readears want to send me a cover with this set please do! Thank you!

What do you think of Canada's endangered species stamp series? Should they continue fissuing these for many years or is this a waste of time and the money should be directly donated to wildlife protection organizations?

I want to hear your thoughts... See you soon!

It's a vintage card with a woman in bikini. Today this piece of clothing have changed dramatically...

In your opinion.... Did it change for better or for worse?

On the back of the postcard is an $1.60 Orchid stamp similar to the one bellow.

Annie Oakley... Postcard!

Annie Oakley
1860-1926

Today I've received a postcard (with a female) from Canada... Yes, I also collect postcards with female figures and Annie Oakley is one very special woman.

On the backside of the postcard you can read:

Nicknamed "Little Miss Sure Shot", Annie traveled many years with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Her accuracy with rifle and pistol astounded thousands who flocked to see the show. She once shot a cigarette from the mouth of Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany.

The stamps (all 2008 isses) used were:

1. Founding of Quebec City (joint issue with France), issued on May 16.

2. Royal Canadian Mint, issued on Jun 4.

3. Beijing 2008 Olympics, issued on Jul 18.

Thank you Carole!

A postcard will soon fly in your direction!

Joint Issue Canada-Japan

Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables is the name of a book published in 1908 and written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, a Canadian author.

According to WIKI "The novel is very popular in Japan, and Anne is an icon there. Many Japanese couples have wedding ceremonies on the grounds of the Green Gables farm and some girls arrive with red-dyed hair and pigtails, to look like Anne."

Beneficial Insects from Canada

Low Value Definitives dedicated to Beneficial Insects

12 October 2007 Canada Post will issue 5 new definitive stamps.

I was really excited when I first saw these images... they are the most colourful definitive stamps I've ever seen! Aren't these the perfect stamps for our youngsters? They are cheap and with a colourful design. And insects is always a good topic to collect, don't you agree?

I'm not a kid anymore but I would love to get these stamps... so my Canadian readers please don't forget! eheh

My country doesn't have any definitive stamps similar to the ones above... what about your country? Did it issue such or even more colourful definitive stamps? Please let me know... by email stamp.friends@gmail.com or by leaving your comments here.

Take care!
